After a fun night on Saturday celebrating Kevin, we woke up Sunday ready to celebrate our precious baby girl. We know that Ayda is a gift from the Lord and it was important for us to have her dedicated at our church. With family and friends in town for Kevin we planned to do it the same weekend. Some close friends of ours also had their baby, Meira, dedicated too. Susan and Josh are in our small group and we met them when Susan was at the end of her first trimester with Meira. They have very similar views as us concerning medicine and holism. They too had Meira at home and were a huge support to Kevin and I as we made plans to do the same. So it only seemed fit to have the girls dedicated together! It was so special to have them with us on this important day. Ayda did so great for the dedication and then went straight to sleep in my arms when we sat back down. She slept through the sermon (we'll work on that in later years!) and woke up with smiles. After church everyone came to our house and we had a nice luncheon in honor of Ayda. It was a sweet morning and something I will always treasure. I prayed so many times during my pregnancy that Christ would just sit with Ayda in my womb. Knit her together perfectly and just be with her. When Ayda would go crazy in my womb I would wonder if she was just praising her Lord. And now the past four months her joyful personality reminds me of the joy we have in Christ. I know God has amazing plans for her life and Kevin and I are honored to be her parents and raise her in the way Christ would have us do so.

Kevin's Graduation!
I decided to break up the posts for Kevin's Graduation and Ayda's Dedication. I feel like they both deserve their own post.
This weekend was a great celebration. We had friends and family come into town and celebrate two wonderful events. Kevin received an email from his advisor on Friday saying he is officially done with school. Though it has not set in for us, it does not change how proud I am of him! I tried to give my little speech at his party but made it half with through before losing the croud's attention (even Ayda was over it!). So here it is:
Kevin has many qualities that I have fallen in love with since I met him. One thing in particular is that when he puts him mind to something he succeeds with excellence. He decided at the end of his sophomore year of college to be a Chiropractor. So the last two years of college he completed a pre-med tract. He graduated from Rollins College in May 2005, moved to Atlanta where he knew no one and started at Life University in June 2005. The Doctorate program at Life consists of 14 quarters with no breaks. Well, he got one week off at the end of his winter and summer quarter and 3 weeks off at the end of his spring and fall quarter. But that is it. Each quarter he took over 30 hours. He saw dozens of patients in clinic. He has taken 3 out of 4 parts of the National Boards and passed with flying colors. He also graduated to Advancement level with Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific. That is a level of Chiropractic that has nothing to do with Life. He received that by attending several seminars in Atlanta and Iowa. He will continue to work towards becoming a Master in this group. He traveled to Dominican Republic with KCUCS and adjusted over 300 people there. Ok so Kevin has stayed busy and driven the past three and a half years. This is all just schooling and education. He also met me, married me, and we had a baby in this time too. Like I said, when Kevin puts him mind to something he succeeds! So as we are now at the end of his journey at Life University and looking to the future of our family and his career I now without a doubt he will be successful. He is already making plans to attend a review course for part 4 of boards, attend a conference in Las Vegas with other Upper Cervical doctors, and start setting up his own practice. To say I am proud is an understatement.
Here are some pictures of his party! It was a lot of fun and we are so thankful for everyone who has played a part in this journey of ours.

In Loving Memory of Grandpa...
This weekend Kevin, Ayda and I traveled to North Carolina for my Grandpa's memorial service. He fought the fight against cancer and passed away middle of last week. He was diagnosed with terminal stage four cancer last summer. He left very specific instructions for us to mourn his loss but not for long. He wanted us to be happy he was in a better place and celebrate his life. He lived 88 amazing years. 61 of those he was married to my Grandma. Their marriage is definitely something to look up to! So we shed some tears and came together as a family to embrace one another, but we also had lots of laughs and enjoyed each other's company. I think the whole day was exactly how he wanted it! His whole family was together under one roof which I know he would have absolutely loved. It was still difficult to not have him there with us. I enjoyed spending time with everyone and Ayda definitely got her fair share of hugs, kisses and love. She did amazing! Although, we got home tonight at 530 and she has been passed out since 715 (still in her traveling clothes and no bath)! I'm just going to let her sleep. So the overall weekend was bitter/sweet. There was a hole where Grandpa was supposed to be and no one tried to fill that. Kevin and I realized the importance of leaving a legacy you can be proud of. Grandpa did that indeed!! I miss him and love him so much!

So much going on...
So far this year has been quite interesting. I am really hoping that it will slow down and there will be a season of rest, at least for my extended family. I have a feeling Kevin, Ayda and I are about to hit turbo speed as we transition into a new season of life.
As you know from a previous post, my older brother took quite a fall and broke is leg/ankle. He is recovering well and is getting pretty used to living life with crutches. Then two weeks after he broke his leg, my grandmother (mom's mom) fell and broke her foot. She is having to wear an ace bandage and boot. She also has to use a walker to get around. Let's just say between the two of them they are making good use of hospital equipment.
Last week my precious Grandpa (my dad's dad) passed away leaving his wife, my grandma, of 62 years. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July. We knew it was coming but that doesn't change the fact that we will miss him and are grieving his loss. I wish so badly he could have met Ayda, his 5th great grandchild. But he is at peace and we are thankful he does not have to suffer anymore. His memorial service is this weekend so Kevin, Ayda and I will make a trip to NC for that and to spend some time with family. Grandpa will be greatly missed. He was an amazing grandpa to say the least!
And then today my mom called to tell me my grandmother (her mom) is in the hospital with some heart/lung issues. They admitted her for further testing and observation. Ayda and I will go up tomorrow to visit and check things out. The nurse in me wants to make sure she is being well taken care of!
So needless to say 2009 has started with a bang, and really these are just the big things that have happened. And I can't say it is a good bang. Ayda has been a trooper as we have been to B'ham twice to see my brother, she will head to NC with us this weekend, she brought comfort to Great-grandma H when she broke her foot and she will be visiting her Great-gma H. in the next couple days. Please say a prayer for all these family members as work has been missed (yet jobs are being so understanding) and lots of recovery, whether emotional or physical, is needing to be done. I greatly appreciate it and I pray for rest to come.

Daddy Time!
Since I have gone back to work Kevin and Ayda have had a little more time together, especially at night. I have to leave around 5:30pm and get home around 8am. So for the evening it is time with her daddy. We joke about what goes on when I am gone! To be a fly on the wall! We are settling into the new routine of me being gone two nights a week though and it is going well.
Kevin is definitely the cook in our house. I was raised on the microwave (my mom won't deny it!) so I am a little lost with other appliances in the kitchen. And...we don't have a microwave! When Kevin starts working long hours we are in trouble. BUT he already is showing Ayda how to cook. She watches him do his thing and he explains it all to her! So cute!
Kevin took these while I was at work (above and below). He wanted me to see just how happy she is! People at work ask if it is hard being back and it really isn't. I know she is in the best hands and they have a good time together!!!

Three Months
Wow, Ayda is three months old! It is hard to believe. She is so alert and curious about everything. It amazes me how she will wake up one morning and do something new. It's like over night she decides to pull out another trick! Monday night I heard her laugh out loud for the first time. I have not heard it since but it was so cute! Then on friday morning she woke up with lots to say. She finally figured out cooing! And then this morning she was playing on her mat and just reached up with no problem and grabbed the rings and pulled it to her mouth. It is so much fun to watch her! She is also sleeping about 6 1/2 -8 hours at night. YES!!!!! So Ayda is doing great!
I went to night shift this past Sunday night. It went well!! Pumping is going great and Ayda is doing great with kevin at home. I had to stay at work an extra four hours thursday morning for a meeting which kinda messed up my milk but I think we are back on track!
And Kevin only has a few more weeks as a student at Life! He is staying very busy getting things ready for his practice. SO much to think about. It is exciting though to take each step towards him being a doctor! And last night he adjusted me for the first time. I have not needed an adjustment for almost a year and a half so when I needed one last night I asked him if he would like to do it. Our Doctor agreed to let him and he watched. Kevin did it perfectly!!! I highly recommend Dr. Lin!
