Sweet Potato Madness!

After Ayda turned up her nose to rice cereal I decided to give sweet potatoes a try. And well the result...a VERY happy customer! She loves them. Right now she only gets a little once a day. I had originally planned to hold off on solids till she 6 months old, but we will be traveling quite a bit the first two weeks of June. So I didn't want to start while we were on the road. We also decided to go ahead and put her awesome high chair together. Ayda's Papa-Joe and Nanna Lori bought it for her when they visited four months ago. We have been waiting to get it out and she looks adorable sitting in there! 

She is ready for the food!
And she loves to show her independence by attempting to feed herself! 
And after enjoying some yummy sweet potatoes she is hamming it up with Kevin! Like I said...a happy customer we have!

Not ME Monday...

 

It's Monday again. Time did not fly this week. (actually it did!). So here is what we did not do this week:

Ayda did not get a taste of rice cereal this week. She is not approaching six months quickly and has not seemed ready for "real" food for a couple weeks. I am not simply in denial that she might be growing up. She is not crawling all over all the time now. I will say it is a rather modified crawl though! I also did not sit her on the potty this morning when she was straining to poo just to see if she would go. It did NOT work (seriously!). I am still not frightened by poos in the cloth diapers which did not lead me to this ridiculous idea!

I did not load Ayda up in the stroller Thursday evening to walk to the package store for a bottle of wine. It was not Kevin's birthday so we did not have an excuse! I did not get strange looks while we were there either! We did not have fun celebrating Kevin's birthday though and we did not celebrate for three days! Kevin also did not take is last set of national boards this weekend and he does not feel like he passed with flying colors! We are not relieved at all that those are finally behind him and we will not move forward with building his practice. We are not excited one bit! And I am not proud of him at all! (K, I am BEYOND proud of him...I mean if today was not monday that is what I would really say!).

And I did not put 8 pacifiers in Ayda's bed last night in hopes of a good long night of sleep. It did not work one bit and she did not sleep 12 hours last night (she woke twice to eat but that's it). I also did not find 5 of those 8 passys wadded up in her blanket this morning. Of those 12 hours she slept, I did not sleep 11 of them. I am not going to admit I was in bed at 8:30 last night. It was not still light out when I went to bed either! Oh the joys of not working night shift!

So the Lins were not up to much this week!! Have an awesome Not Me Monday!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was wonderful! Mom and Jim came over in the morning and we went to Kevin and I's church. Kevin had a review class for his boards all day so they wanted to join me! It was great having them there. Then we went over to their house for lunch and naps! Ayda slept about 2 hours which meant I got a nap as well. Perfect Mother's day gift from her. Not to mention the amazing night of sleep she had the night before!!!!  Then we got ready and headed to dinner. It was a wonderful day.

We also went to Anniston Saturday to spend some time with my brother and his family. I didn't get any pictures but we had a great time playing at the park and having dinner. It was good to spend that time with them as well!!

Four generations! We have lots of pictures of my great-grandma, grandma, mom and me as I was growing up. Now we are back in action with the four generations again!
The reason I am a mom and I couldn't be happier about it! It is the BEST thing I do!
Kevin and Ayda gave me these beautiful long stem roses! Ayda enjoyed chewing on the ribbon of course!
I can't remember which nap I caught her like this but I couldn't resist taking a picture. Ayda has insisted on being a tummy sleeper since 8 weeks. Now that she can roll around as she pleases I find her all over the bed and in all kinds of positions. Notice her leg propped up on the bumper. She was sacked out too!

NOT ME Monday...

I am not giving this a whirl for the first time today and I have not wanted to try it before. So here goes...

I do not have a 5 month old who is already figuring out how to crawl. And I have not already lost her a couple times because she was not where I left her.  I am also not trying cloth diapers out on her all of a sudden. And I do not like them one bit. I have not already gotten frustrated with the stains and am not getting better at getting them out. 

I do not have a dog that is already scratching non-stop. I mean she is not on flea medicine, so COME ON!!! Gracie also does not entertain us by chasing her tail all the time which does not lead into the bucking bronco! She is a completely normal 9 year old dog who does not have any psychological issues!

After Ayda and I did not play in her room from 1AM-4AM trying to get her to poop, I did not celebrate with her when she finally did. I also did not leave her in the Bumbo chair the next morning to see if she would poop some more. She does not usually poop EVERYtime she gets in the Bumbo either.  

And last, I did not have the BEST first Mother's day! My husband did not give me beautiful flowers and two sweet cards. Ayda was not an absolute angel the whole day either. We did not have fun, relax, and have a wonderful dinner. I did not enjoy my time at my mom's house!

Five Months Old!

Ayda turned 5 months on Monday! Hard to believe...as I say every month. She is doing great and has learned lots again this month. She is sitting up more and more without support. Her biggest problem in that department is she won't sit still long enough to actually sit. She would rather topple over and then get moving to whatever toy is closest. She also went to her first story time this month. She really liked the bubbles and singing. When we start back in June I think she will be even more into it. No trips out of town really this month. Kevin went to Iowa and Vegas but the girls stayed put. The next few months though have lots going on so I'm sure this past month of chilling out is good. Ayda also decided on Sunday to start figuring out this crawling thing. She gets up on her knees and lunges forward. She is usually not too thrilled with the faceplant into the carpet though. She also does a goofy push with her legs but that usually makes her just turn in circles. It is so neat to watch her try to figure all this out. Another month has come and gone. 

I am also taking the plunge...CLOTH DIAPERS! Kevin and I have wanted to do this since before Ayda was born but with all the new mommy/daddy chaos that goes on we never jumped into it. Well now I have gotten tired of buying disposables every month...so pricey. These will pay for themselves in a few months. I am so excited to transition her and us into this. People I have talked to that use cloth diapers absolutely love it! So here we go! BumGenius here we come!!! Enjoy the pics!

My Mom babysits her every tuesday so Kevin and I can go to small group. I think it has become their favorite time of the week together! Ayda loves her Grand-Pam!
I think she is trying to tell me something...PLEASE feed me real food! Not for another month, pumpkin!
Playing on the bed in her new leggings! I got a gift certificate from a friend and I went straight to target to get another pair! YAY!!!
Ayda and Tommy the Monkey!!! And yes, those are the leggings again! I can't help it...they are just so stinkin cute!

You might me a mom if...

1. You find yourself singing along (rather loudly) to Praise Baby in the car. Then look in the mirror to find the baby sacked out in the carseat!

2. Your sleeves are wet with drool 90% of the time.

3. You hear your baby's cry when she is no where around.

4. You look for parking spots near the Shopping cart return so you can juggle everything easier. 

5. Your big night out now ends at 8PM.

6. The camera is never more than 5 feet away (first time mom at least)

7. Baby Einstein is now your very best friend...it means you might get something to eat!

8. You find yourself talking about 20 octaves higher than your usual voice.

9. You will do ANYTHING to get a smile and you are glad no one is around to see your attempt.

10. You find yourself realizing so often you have NEVER felt this kind of love before!
