Chunky Monkey...

I took Ayda to the pediatrician this morning for her 6 month well baby appointment (I'm a few weeks late...oops). He said everything looks great! He also told me to keep up with the tummy time and let her start scooting around. ha! I told him she started crawling a month ago and started pulling up this week. He was very impressed and said she is the reason he gets phone calls from worried parents because their 9 month old is not doing that stuff! I thought that was kinda funny! Anyway he said to get ready for the head bumps...AH! Well she is actually standing here fussing at me to get her so I gotta run! Here are her stats:
Weight: 18lbs 13oz (86%)
Height: 27 inches (79%)
Head Circumference: 7 inches (60%)
She is doing FANtastic!!!!

Standing up!

Ayda loves to explore and crawling was clearly getting boring for her. So she started pulling herself up this week. She loves to stand up at the toy box and go through her toys. It makes Kevin and I a nervous wreck watching her but she keeps her balance pretty good. Here are some pictures of her just doing her thing!
I walked in this morning to find her standing there fussing. She had pulled her mobile down and was ready to start the day. It was a surprise to me to see her upright staring at me. ha!
She likes to climb on her bumbo but then gets stuck. Clearly by her face here you can tell she is not quite sure what to do next and pretty much looking at me to put the camera down and rescue her!
Going through her toy box! It's funny though, she gets a toy, plays with it while she is standing there and then puts it back in the box to get the next toy! So far she has not figured out she can take it out and make a huge mess by scattering them everywhere! I'll let her figure that one out on her own!
So proud of herself!
She also loves playing with Kevin's golf clubs! He certainly does not mind letting her get used to the club...future golfing buddy perhaps!!

Tree Down!

What a night! Kevin, Ayda and I had gone to dinner at my mom and step-dad's house. We got home and all was normal. Kevin was ahead of me getting in our apartment. I had just gotten out of my car and was about to get Ayda out when all of a sudden I heard the loudest cracking and crashing! I had no clue what it was or where it was coming from. My first thought was lightening...of course that makes sense on a sunny summer night! Anyway my first instinct was to jump back in my car and duck and cover! The crashing lasted maybe 10 seconds. Once I knew Ayda and I were ok in the car I jumped back out and when I looked up I saw this:
Our neighbors standing on what used to be their entry way to their apartment. A HUGE tree had fallen on the apartment and took everything down with it.  So incredibly random! Thank God no one was hurt...they were just stuck up there!
View from our apartment to theirs. Some of the tree hit our apartment but clearly the damage was done to the 1100 building. After yelling out "who should I call?!" Kevin matter of factly said "um, 911". Right...so I called 911 with a very shaky voice. I could barely remember our address at this point.
The view from the side walk looking into the porches of the apartments.

The fire fighters had to secure the building. Not really sure what they did but it took about an hour and a half to get their stuff done.
This is what landed on our entryway. If Kevin had been 5 seconds behind what he was he would have been hit by all this. AH! Thank goodness he had just walked in the house. And I was lagging behind still at the car.
The branch that is now lodged in the side of our apartment. Luckily it didn't come all the way through. It did knock the picture off our wall.
What we see when we walk out our door. I mean we now can enjoy some nice shrubbery for free!  Needless to say it was a little crazy around here. I brought Ayda in and put her to bed and then we proceeded to have a mini block party. We met lots of neighbors. The interesting thing about it is almost everyone I talked to smelled of beer. Even the fire fighters commented on it. Haha!

A Slight Hiatus

After taking so many pictures in Orlando and at the beach I realized yesterday the camera has not been touched since we got home. We have taken it pretty easy since we all got back home and it has been pretty nice! Ayda is rested up and somewhat back in her routine. I do believe she has a couple more teeth coming in. If it's not that, she is more fussy for some other reason I have not determined yet. Anyway I'll try to get some pictures of little miss up soon.

Catching up...

Ayda and I enjoyed the rest of our time at the beach! We got home yesterday and though we did have fun, we were both happy to get home. Ayda didn't sleep that well there so she slept great last night! She just seems relieved to finally be home! It is also wonderful to be back together as a family. Kevin went to my mom and step-dad's cabin for a few days. My step-dad ended up joining him and they had a nice "Man's Weekend". They played a couple rounds of golf, painted the deck, watched two of the NBA finals games, and relaxed. Kevin was in need to time to just chill and now he is ready to go full speed in setting up his practice.
As for Ayda and me, we played on the beach some but Ayda really liked the pool. I know where I'll be many afternoons this summer. She had so much fun splashing and kicking in the water. We also took a walk on the beach in our friend Lainie's red wagon and Ayda LOVED it. She even fell asleep sitting straight up in the thing. So cute! So we had a nice vacation and are settling back into our routine now.
I am also a little late posting Ayda's six month picture with Tommy the Monkey! She had an exciting month once again. We are still on the move and can now go from sitting to crawling/crawling to sitting. Kevin and I are relieved with this milestone because she bumps her head a lot less now! She also started eating some food...finally. She has not refused anything I have offered. I am still not giving her too much because I want her main nutrition to come from me. She seems satisfied and judging by the pictures you can see she is gaining weight quite well! She is so much fun and has quite the bubbly personality. We watch in amazement as she explores this crazy world we live in! It's awesome!
Enjoy the pics!!!
Playing in her Happy Hippo on the beach!
Leigh Ann, Lainie, Lauren, Ayda and me! Girl's weekend
Lainie and Ayda hanging out in the wagon. Ayda LOVED that thing!
Completely content to stay in the wagon. Such a girly girl...she didn't like the sand or water. The wagon was nice and clean for her. Love it!
Splash Splash in the pool
I love this picture because when Ayda was 3 weeks old a Lactation Consultant told me she had a tongue tie...um yea sure! Looks like it to me! haha
Bath time with Aunt Lauren is so silly and funny!
Leigh Ann and Lainie at dinner for Leigh Ann's birthday
"A" is for Ayda
Playing on the monkey bars...so silly
Riding her first Merry-Go-Round! She was really just mesmerized by the horse's ear. Glad it was not real!
Me and my sweet girl!
Ayda crawled under this table one morning and just looked out the window for about 15 minutes. Not exactly sure what she was watching...probably the palm trees blowing. Sounds relaxing to me
More pool time fun!

Such a big girl!
And finally...Tommy the Monkey and Ayda for the 6 month picture! She is getting so big so fast!

A Few of My Favorites...

Ayda and I packed up again and headed to St. Augustine with my close friend, Lauren. This is our third year in a row coming down. It is so fun having Ayda with us this year too! It is crazy to think I was about 20 weeks pregnant with her for last years girl's weekend. Lauren felt her kick when we were here. And now she is crawling around, eating sand, babbling, etc. Crazy! Anyway here are some pics of our first day down here. The morning was pretty but the rain came all afternoon so we took it easy in the Condo. It was a good day and we relaxed a lot!
Putting up with the sun hat
Hanging out on the beach, but not impressed at all with the water. Too cold. Sitting here lasted about 5 seconds.
Yay! Back in the sand/shells playing!

Orlando Pics...beware there are a lot!

If you didn't read my "Not Me Monday" post I'll fill you in on our trip. We went to Orlando for almost a week and it was a great time away. We started the vacation with our dear friends (Ayda's godparents) Josh and Kaitlin. We piled into their Explorer and headed south. Ayda did great in the car but was definitely ready to get out and move around. We stayed with Kevin's parents which was awesome seeing them. On friday we went to Disney ALL day. Ayda did amazing. We got there at 9:30 and left at 7:15 that night. She did not even whimper once. A few naps in the stroller and she was good to go! She even rode four rides...Small World being her favorite I think. So into everything around her. Then on Saturday Kevin's parents, grandparents, and aunt joined the five of us and went to the beach. It was tons of fun and Ayda seemed to like it. Kevin's mom was precious as she followed whoever had Ayda around with an umbrella so Ayda would not get burned. Ayda was queen bee!!  Josh and Kaitlin headed home Sunday and Kevin and I stayed for a few more days with his family. His grandparents are here from Taiwan so we wanted to relax at home with them and let them have more time with Ayda. Overall the vacation was perfect! Ayda was amazing and totally went with the flow the whole time. I'm not surprised at all though. Enjoy the pics of our trip!!!
All ready for Disney!!!! She picked up on our excitement and was so excited too!
Riding the Monorail with Daddy!
Stopping for a quick lunch and some air condition! And yes...she does have a mohawk! We were wetting her head to keep her cool and we could not resist. I'm sure she will thank us later!
Riding Small World. Pretty much this was the expression on her face the entire time! She took it all in!
Nothing better than a shoulder ride on Daddy!

Daddy's princess in front of Cinderella's Castle!
Me and my girl!
MINNIE EARS!! Ayda was so funny wearing them. She didn't bother them at all. She knew she was cute!
Playing on the floor with Kevin's parents
Ready for the beach!!!
